We are John & Jen, a husband and wife team of local artisan furniture builders known as Custom Furniture KC. We started our business with an intent to provide interesting custom furniture in a sustainable manner. But our true passion is the story behind the product.
We are always on the lookout for naturally fallen trees and interesting materials that we can re-purpose into unique items that both accent your home or office and provide a useful purpose. All of our products have their own unique “origin story” that adds to the character of the piece. From rescuing downed trees from the wood chipper to salvaging unique metal items and incorporating them into to our designs we strive to be sustainable and design conscious. Giving new life to old things is what we do best.
Whether you use our locally foraged and milled wood or you have a downed tree of your own, we look forward to working together to create something special. We especially love introducing people to locally found species of wood that are often overlooked such as hackberry, elm, sycamore and others, but we are also big fans of oak, walnut and cherry.
